Dallas Cowboys needed an offensive tackle

The Dallas Cowboys needed to add an offensive tackle before the regular season. The Cowboys needed a replacement for left tackle Tyron Smith, who sustained a hamstring injury during practice in August. There were reports that the Cowboys were looking to a future Hall of Fame offensive lineman to help the team this season.

According to Ian Rapoport, the Cowboys were able to come to a deal with 40-year-old offensive tackle Jason Peters.

Peters is a divisional rivals hero.

Peters had a fantastic career for the Philadelphia Eagles. The nine-time Pro Bowl tackle played for the Eagles from 2009-2020. He helped the team win Super Bowl LII. It will be interesting to watch Peters go against his former team twice this season. The Dallas Cowboys are expected to be a playoff contender this season.

Peters played with the Bears last season. It was a so-so performance for Peters. He had an overall rating of 77.5 for the year by Pro Football Focus. However, the aging offensive lineman gave up six sacks in 2021. Peters had to deal with minor injuries while with the Bears but played most of the season. Peters will start on the Cowboys practice squad, per reports.
