Dallas Goedert, Eagles still in discussions on contract extension

Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert have shared time at tight end for the Philadelphia Eagles over the last three seasons. However, the franchise might be left without either of those players in the near future.

Ertz's future with the Eagles remains uncertain and he wants a trade out of Philadelphia. The 30-year-old is not participating in the team's offseason program. Goedert, meanwhile, is participating and told reporters Wednesday that his agent continues to talk to the Eagles about a contract extension.

"I think contract stuff is still in discussions a little bit," Goedert said, according to Pro Football Talk. "I'm not too worried about that. I have to go out there and play really good football. . . . I'm leaving my contract stuff to my agent. He does a great job at that, that's why I pay him. I just gotta go out here every day, continue to work, continue to get better."

Goedert is in the final year of the four-year contract he signed in 2018. The 26-year-old caught 46 passes for 524 yards and three touchdowns last season.

Goedert will likely become Philly's top tight end in 2021, with Ertz on his way out the door. Philadelphia also currently has Hakeem Butler, Jason Croom, Tyree Jackson, Jack Stoll and Caleb Wilson at tight end.
