TAMPA - A 55-yard catch from DeVonta Smith set up the Philadelphia Eagles’ first touchdown of the night, a 5-yard throw from Jalen Hurts to tight end Dallas Goedert.

The connection came with 3:06 to play in the second quarter and trimmed their deficit to 16-9 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Monday night's Wild Card game at Raymond James Stadium.

The Eagles opted to try for a two-point conversion after an offsides penalty against the Buccaneers on the extra point kick. Tampa stopped the Eagles' tush push try on the conversion, however.

It was Goedert's fourth TD of the season, factoring in the three he had in the regular season.

Smith's catch gave the receiver 3 receptions for 98 yards in the first half. He would go over 100 later. The 55-yard catch was the Eagles' first play over 50 yards since Week 4.

For Hurts, it was his 24th touchdown pass of the season.

This may have been one of his easier ones. He faked a handoff up the middle and rolled to his right where Goedert was wide open.

Earlier in the game, the Eagles lost Julio Jones, who was being evaluated for a concussion.

The Eagles were already short-handed at the receiver position, with A.J. Brown not playing due to a knee injury.

So, the Eagles are trying to get Goedert more involved in the passing game. His touchdown catch came on his fourth target of the game.

The Eagles' defense had allowed the Bucs to score points on four of their five possessions of the half but surrendered only one touchdown, making them kick three field goals.
