Daniel Jones becomes first Giants QB since 1946 to rush for 100 yards in win over Jags
The New York Giants remain one of the surprise teams of the NFL this season after improving to 6-1 on Sunday following a 23-17 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Fourth-year quarterback Daniel Jones has been a big reason for New York's early season success, and on Sunday, he did something no Giants' quarterback has done since 1946.
Jones went 19-of-30 for 202 yards and a touchdown through the air but was just as impactful on the ground, rushing 11 times on Sunday, recording 107 yards and a touchdown. After passing the century mark with his legs, Jones became the first Giants' quarterback to rush for 100 yards in a game since Frank Filchock 76 years ago.
Jones' rushing ability has added another dimension to his game that wasn't quite there last season. Jones is already exceeding last season's rushing totals through seven games, averaging 5.9 yards per carry for 343 yards and three scores.
The 25-year-old has also seen improvement in the passing game.
So far, Jones has posted a 66.7 completion percentage, throwing for 1,223 yards, six touchdowns, and two interceptions.
Jones and the Giants will look to continue their winning ways when they travel West next Sunday to take on the Seattle Seahawks (4-3).
