After 13 years and five teams in the NFL , wide receiver Danny Amendola has retired. “It was better than I could have ever imagined,” Amendola said about his career to Adam Schefter.

Patriots

A member of the New England Patriots from 2013 – 2017, Amendola was part of one of the most successful periods in Patriots history. This was the second act of their dynasty, and their second run of Super Bowls.

They went 63 – 17 or a winning percentage of 78.8%, averaging 12.6 wins per season and 3.4 losses per season. They also went 3 – 2 in AFC Championship games and 2 – 1 in Super Bowls.

During this run he wasn’t a passenger, but a perfect fit in the McDaniel offense.

In his five years in New England, Amendola had 230 catches with 2383 yards and 12 touchdowns. He wasn’t ever a pro bowler or one of the top WRs in football, but he was someone former QB Tom Brady could count on.

He overcome many injuries, especially multiple concussions, but he still was able to make an impact.

Texas Tech/Rams/Dolphins/Lions/Texans

While at Texas Tech, they went 34 – 16 and won three out of four bowl games. In his career he had 204 catches with 2246 yards and 15 TDs.

He was undrafted when he entered the league in 2008 and spent the season on the Dallas Cowboy’s practice squad. He then went to the Philadelphia Eagles’ one in 2009. Part way through the season he was signed to the St. Louis Rams (at the time, now Los Angeles Rams).

In St. Louis for four seasons the Rams went 17 – 46 – 1 and Amendola had 196 catches with 1726 yards and seven TDs.

As a member of the Miami Dolphins for one season, they went 7 – 9 and Amendola had 59 catches with 575 yards and a TD.

With Detroit two years, they went 8 – 23 – 1 and Amendola had 108 catches with 1280 yards and a TD.

In what turned out to be his final year in the NFL, Amendola was back home in his native Texas as a member of the Houston Texans. They went 4 – 13 and he had 24 catches with 248 yards and three TDs.
