Baltimore Ravens cornerback Ronald Darby is gaining confidence after recovering from a season-ending injury last season.
"I was busting my [butt] rehabbing and running. I was having like two-a-days all through the week, so I made sure I put the load on my body," Darby said. "Knowing that I wasn't in OTAs, I wasn't in the first half of camp, I made sure I did more so I could be ready and have confidence on it. That's what it's mainly about, having confidence on your knee."
Darby signed a one-year, $1.7 million contract with Baltimore after its star cornerback, Marlon Humphrey, went down with an injury in training camp. For his career, Darby has eight interceptions, 90 passes defended and 373 total tackles.
Last season while playing for the Denver Broncos, Darby suffered a season-ending torn ACL on Oct. 6, 2022 in a game against the Indianapolis Colts. The Ravens will be the fifth team that he plays for after the Broncos, Washington Commanders, Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills.
He is most known for his time with the Eagles, the team he spent the most time with. Darby was with Philadelphia for three seasons and became a Super Bowl Champion when the Eagles defeated the New England Patriots 41-33 in Super Bowl LII.
For the 29-year old cornerback, this is an opportunity to prove that his best years are not behind him.
Darby and the Ravens will open the season on Sept. 10 at 1 p.m. on the road against the Houston Texans and their rookie quarterback CJ Stroud.
