Darrin Simmons has worked on Cincinnati’s coaching staff for 21 years. He nearly reached the top of the mountain in 2021 when the Bengals came up just short in Super Bowl LVI. The chip on Simmons' shoulder only got bigger and he's hoping to finish the job this season.

“Trying to win the Super Bowl,” Simmons said of his 2023 focus. “That’s the ultimate goal here, we’ve been close twice. This has been a long offseason for me after we got so close in 21’ and we got the chance to get back there. I know how hard it is after being here for 19 years and never having that chance and being close twice in a row. I know how hard that is so this is a big year for me too. We’ve gotta get right back in the saddle and we are still very, very close. We have a great team and I’m excited as I ever was.”

The Bengals start the journey tonight with their preseason opener against the Packers. The regular season begins on Sept. 10 when the Bengals head to Cleveland to face the Browns.
