Davante Adams, Packers break off long-term extension talks amid Aaron Rodgers drama

The Green Bay Packers now have more problems than just Aaron Rodgers.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Davante Adams and the Packers have broken off long-term extension talks with no current plans to resume them. The two sides have found themselves in a bad situation after the club's proposals didn't involve Adams becoming the NFL's highest-paid wide receiver.

Adams is entering the final year of his four-year, $58 million contract and appears to be headed toward free agency.

The 28-year-old has blossomed into one of the NFL's best wide receivers. He is a four-time Pro Bowler and was a 2020 All-Pro First Team selection after catching 115 passes for 1,374 yards and 18 touchdowns.

The news of Adams' contract woes with the Packers comes after he said in June that it would be a "dream" to team up with former college teammate and Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr again.

Adams also appeared to acknowledge his uncertain future with the Packers in a cryptic social media post last month.

The Fresno State product previously told Bleacher Report's Graham Matthews that he wanted to stay in Green Bay beyond the 2021 season, but now it seems that things have changed.

In addition to Adams, Rodgers' future in Green Bay is also up in the air as the reigning MVP reportedly turned down a two-year extension offer from the Packers.

It's unclear if Rodgers plans to show up to training camp this summer, but now he's not the only one the franchise has to worry about as things appear to be falling apart.
