DeAndre Hopkins recruits J.J. Watt to join Cardinals: 'Let's finish what we started'

J.J. Watt has become the go-to target on the upcoming free-agent market, with players from nearly every team in the league trying to recruit the 3-time Defensive Player of the Year to join their squad. And that includes former teammates, as wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins posted a photoshopped picture of the two of them in Arizona Cardinals uniforms with the simple caption "Let's finish what we started..."

Hopkins and Watt were teammates in Houston since the receiver was drafted in 2013 and together, they helped turn the franchise around, reaching the playoffs four out of five seasons and even winning two postseason games. However, everything changed when former coach Bill O'Brien traded Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals last offseason. The Texans quickly fell apart, resulting in Deshaun Watson demanding a trade and Watt asking to be released.

Now, Hopkins is offering Watt a chance for another team-up, but are the Cardinals an attractive destination for Watt? They are a young and exciting team with a lot of upside. However, they did not make the playoffs last season and will certainly be facing plenty of competition for Watt, who is already generating a ton of interest from teams.

In fact, several players even commented on Hopkins' post, including JuJu Smith-Schuester, who seemed to be making a pitch for Watt to join the Steelers despite the fact that it's not clear if JuJu will be returning to Pittsburgh. Hopkins' teammate Isaiah Simmons made it clear he was on board with the idea of Watt joining the Arizona defense, while 49ers tight end George Kittle jokingly told Hopkins to "relax."
