The Deebo Samuel rumors took a turn on Tuesday as Adam Schefter reported that the All-Pro wideout could be seeking out of San Francisco.

The situation between wide receiver Deebo Samuel and the San Francisco 49ers is reportedly reaching a tipping point according to the latest rumors circulating around the league.

Per Adam Schefter, the 49ers are prepared to pay Samuel now, however, the star wideout is reportedly holding up a potential deal, indicating that he ultimately wants out of San Francisco. Samuel is in the final year of his rookie deal that pays him $4.9 million in 2022.

This is a bit of a shift from previous reports that Samuel simply wants to be paid on the same level as his peers which is significantly more than what he is making now. If Samuel truly wants out, there should be a robust market for the talented receiver who is viewed as a key foundational piece in San Francisco.

The 49ers still need to resolve the Jimmy Garoppolo situation and perhaps, the uncertainty at quarterback moving forward is causing hesitation on Samuel’s part. The South Carolina product had a career year in 2021, hauling in 77 passes for 1,405 yards and six touchdowns. He added 59 rushes for an additional 365 yards and eight touchdowns en route to a first-team All-Pro nod.

When it comes to potential suitors, the New York Jets immediately come to mind as they have been reportedly in on just about every wide receiver on the market this offseason, including Tyreek Hill who ultimately landed in Miami. If San Francisco does make him available, the Jets would be one of many teams that will inquire about Samuel.

With the NFL Draft less than 10 days away, things could get very interesting very quickly.
