The Denver Broncos are in dire need of a quarterback after releasing Russell Wilson, but with the 12th overall pick in the NFL Draft, they won’t be able to land one of the very top prospects unless they trade up.

Luckily for the Broncos, this is considered one of the deepest draft classes for quarterbacks in history, so they could still land a great player even if they stay at No. 12.

According to the latest odds of BetMGM Sportsbook, Denver is the favorite to land Oregon’s Bo Nix, having -165 odds to select him (h/t Dylan Svoboda of The New York Post).

The Las Vegas Raiders were given the next-best odds at +600, so, clearly, the Broncos are heavy favorites to draft Nix this Thursday.

Because Nix is expected to be a mid first-round pick or potentially even an early second-rounder, Denver could potentially trade down, add some more draft capital and still end up with Nix.

Nix may very well be the most intriguing quarterback prospect in the entire draft.

The 24-year-old is coming off of a fantastic 2023 campaign in which he threw for 4,508 yards, 45 touchdowns and three interceptions while completing 77.4 percent of his passes. He also rushed for 234 yards and six scores and finished third in Heisman Trophy voting.

Nix began his collegiate career at Auburn in 2019 and spent three seasons there before transferring to Oregon in 2022.

He broke out in his first season with the Ducks, totaling 3,593 yards, 29 touchdowns and seven picks while completing 71.9 percent of his throws. He added 510 yards and 14 scores on the ground.

Nix doesn’t have the cachet of Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye, but there is no doubting his production, and he could end up being one of the biggest steals in this year’s draft.
