The Denver Broncos have big plans in store for a former University of Alabama standout.

Patrick Surtain II has become of the best young defensive backs in the National Football League.

He was the ninth overall selection of the 2021 NFL Draft and has been a leader for the Broncos.

Surtain earned first-team NFL All-Pro honors in 2022 and is a two-time Pro Bowl selection in 2022 and 2023. He has collected 187 total tackles in three seasons with 36 pass breakups and seven interceptions. Surtain accomplished a lot in his final season with the Crimson Tide in 2020, including SEC Defensive Player of the Year, first-team All-SEC selection, and Unanimous All-American selection. He assisted the Tide to a College Football Playoff National Championship in his junior year. Surtain has the fifth-year option on his rookie contract picked up by the Broncos.

The team announced the news Tuesday via social media as he’ll get $19.8 million in the fall.

He has grown into an exceptional talent, and the Broncos know Surtain is needed to be special on defense.
