Derek Carr caught a huge break when his college teammate Davante Adams wanted to join him in Las Vegas. Adams was traded from the Packers to the Raiders in March for two draft picks. He then signed a big contract extension with his new team.

Things seem to be going just swell for Adams, but he is missing one thing.

Toward the end of Thursday’s Hall of Fame Game between the Raiders and Jacksonville Jaguars, Carr talked about how he still owes Adams a car. Carr and Adams did a joint interview on NBC when the subject arose.

Carr said he has offered Adams one of his own cars, but that’s not quite enough.

“I think I need to buy him [a car],” Carr said.

Adams then noted how Carr had said he would buy Adams a car to get the receiver to Las Vegas.

“I think the quote from him was, ‘I would even buy him a car if he decides to come.’ So buying a car and giving a car are different, but beggars can’t be choosers,” Adams said.

Adams is correct.

During a July 2021 appearance on Cris Collinsworth’s podcast, Carr said he would buy Adams a car to get him to the Raiders.

“Davante, he’s one of my best friends. I’m gonna offer him whatever I gotta offer. I’ll buy him a car, whatever I’ve got to do I’ll offer that man. I know he would fit in great with the receivers we have here. He would fit so well in that room. I’m allowed to say those things. Our organization isn’t, but I’m going to say it. He’s my best friend, I think he’s one of the best — he’s the best receiver in the NFL,” Carr said in 2021.

Hey, Carr said it. Now it’s time to make good on it. He may have to really pony up too based on what Adams wants.

“So I’ve been feeling really Ferrari-ish lately. So I’ve been looking at the F12 Superfast, it’s really, really nice … if I want to downplay it maybe a Rolls Royce … something a little more modest,” Adams said in March regarding the kind of car he wants.

Adams signed a massive contract and can afford any car he wants. But Carr is making big money too. He has a $17 million base salary this season and is guaranteed $65 million on his new contract that kicks in next year. He needs to stop messing around and make good on his past comment.
