Derek Carr would 'probably quit football' if he had to play for team other than Raiders

Following the 2021 NFL Draft, betting odds linked the Las Vegas Raiders and Denver Broncos with disgruntled Green Bay Packers quarterback and reigning NFL Most Valuable Player Aaron Rodgers, who reportedly still wishes to be traded and may continue his holdout through the start of regular-season play to prove his point.

As of the middle of June, though, Derek Carr remains the Raiders' QB1 and made it clear on Tuesday he does not want to go anywhere.

"I'd probably quit football if I had to play for somebody else," Carr said following Tuesday's practice, per Paul Gutierrez of ESPN. "I am a Raider for my entire life. I'm going to root for one team for the rest of my life -- it's the Raiders. So, I just feel that so strong in my heart I don't need a perfect situation ... to make things right.

"I'd rather go down with the ship, you know what I'm saying, if I have to."

Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst has repeatedly said he isn't trading Rodgers, and Russell Wilson seems committed to starting for the Seattle Seahawks for at least one more season. While Houston Texans star signal-caller Deshaun Watson allegedly still wants to be traded, he's facing 22 lawsuits regarding allegations of sexual assault and misconduct and may not be cleared to play at all during the upcoming campaign.

Logic suggests Carr and the Raiders will stay together through at least the start of the next NFL offseason.
