DeSean Jackson accepts invitation to visit Auschwitz

After speaking to Holocaust survivor Edward Mosberg, DeSean Jackson has accepted an invitation to visit Auschwitz in order to educate about the tragic history of anti-Semitism.

"I grew up in Los Angeles, and never really spent time with anyone from the Jewish community and didn’t know much about their history, this has been such a powerful experience for me to learn and educate myself," Jackson said, via the Jerusalem Post.

Jackson found himself facing widespread criticism after misattributing an anti-Semitic quote to Adolf Hitler on social media. The Eagles receiver apologized for the post and agreed to meet with Mosberg after he was invited by the Holocaust survivor to visit the concentration camp.

The trip is being coordinated by From The Depth, an organization established to ensure that the horrors of the Holocaust are not forgotten. Mosberg is an honorary chairman.

"We are working with DeSean and his team to set dates for this trip to go ahead and are happy that DeSean agreed," Depths founder Jonny Daniels said in a statement.

Along with Mosberg's invite, Jackson also received an invitation from Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman to take a joint trip to the Holocaust Museum and the African American Museum of History and Culture. Edelman said the two had talked since he extended the invite and that they were both committed to growing and learning together. Sources say Jackson also plans to donate to several Jewish community efforts as a way to atone for his offensive social media activity.
