The Cleveland Browns are going to be without starting quarterback Deshaun Watson for the remainder of the regular season due to a shoulder injury. This has come after injuring his shoulder in the first half of last week’s win over the Baltimore Ravens where Watson had an unbelievable second half to come from behind to win.

The Cleveland Browns issued the following statement regarding the injury news:

“Deshaun Watson underwent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) Monday on two injuries sustained on different plays in the first half of Sunday’s 33-31 win over the Baltimore Ravens. Imaging on his left ankle revealed a high-ankle sprain . In addition, postgame, Deshaun notified our medical staff of a new discomfort n his right shoulder that he felt after a hit in the first half. An MRI of his right shoulder revealed a displaced fracture to the glenoid. Despite performing at a high level and finishing the game, after consultation with Browns’ Head Physician, James Voos, MD, and industry-leading shoulder specialist, Neal ElAttrache, MD, it has been determined that this injurywill require immediate surgical repair to avoid further structural damage. Deshaun will be placed on season-ending injured reserve and a full recovery is expected for the start of the 2024 season.”

Deshaun Watson has been playing better as of late and a big reason why the team won four of their previous five games to improve to 6-3 on the season. His season looks rough as a whole as he finishes 105-of-171 (61.4 completion percentage) for 1,115 yards with seven passing touchdowns and four interceptions.  He also ran the football 26 times for 142 yards (5.5 yards per carry) with a rushing touchdown.

Injuries have become a bit of a concern for Deshaun Watson this season as he missed time with a shoulder injury that forced him to miss multiple weeks, raising the question if this injury happened earlier and just got re-aggravated and severely worse.

Deshaun Watson joins the Cleveland Browns All-Injury Team

The injury to Deshaun Watson is far from the first injury that has been costly to the Browns. They also have running back Nick Chubb and offensive tackle Jack Conklin on Injured Reserve for the remainder of the season. This Browns team has been devastated by injuries and possibly just lost their chance to the playoffs unless backup PJ Walker can continue winning games with this incredible defense.
