Deshaun Watson posts cryptic tweet amid rumors of rift with Texans

Houston, we most certainly have a problem.

Texans star quarterback Deshaun Watson posted a very cryptic tweet on Friday following Cal McNair's comments stating that he had been in contact with the 25-year-old and plans to keep him "in the loop" in the head coaching search.

Watson tweeted: "I was on 2 then I took it to 10." Fans began to immediately speculate that he was referring to a tweet from ESPN's Adam Schefter that said Watson's anger level was a two when the team traded Pro Bowl wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals and it's now a 10 amid the franchise's offseason moves.

Over the last week, several reports said Watson was unhappy with the franchise for how it handled the general manager search, leaving him out of the process after promising to include him and take his opinion into account. Watson reportedly even began telling teammates that he might request a trade after a disappointing 4-12 season.

Schefter reported that Watson was "upset" that McNair hired Nick Caserio, a man search firm Korn Ferry didn't include on its list of general manager candidates.

"Watson is said to be furious at the Texans' direction, and others are as well, with some saying that there will be employees who wind up leaving the organization during the offseason," Schefter wrote.

It's unclear if the rift between Watson and the Texans can be fixed. The team made an effort to mend the cracks in their relationship by requesting to interview Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, but it didn't happen until Watson's problems were made public.

Despite Houston's struggles as a whole, Watson had the best statistical season of his career in 2020, completing 70.2% of his passes for 4,823 yards and 33 touchdowns against seven interceptions. He also ran for 444 yards and three touchdowns.
