DeShone Kizer says he discussed 9/11 conspiracy theories with Packers' Aaron Rodgers

Former Green Bay Packers backup quarterback DeShone Kizer has described a unique early interaction he had with Aaron Rodgers.

"He shut the door, and the first thing that came out of Aaron Rodgers' mouth was 'Do you believe in 9/11?' What, do I believe in 9/11? Yeah, why wouldn’t I?" Kizer explained during an appearance on "The Breneman Show" which is hosted by former player Adam Breneman, according to Jaclyn Hendricks of the New York Post and Reice Shipley of The Comeback.

"He was like 'You should read up on that,' and then we just start learning up about the playbook, and I was like wow I don’t know where this is going. What it ended up being was a thought experiment where he wanted me to go back and look into some of the conspiracies around it. We really bonded over that and started sharing some books, and we started talking about some other things. Some history, some business, some finance."

Kizer entered the NFL when the Cleveland Browns selected him in the second round of the 2017 draft. Cleveland traded Kizer to the Packers following his rookie season, and he made three appearances with Green Bay during the 2018 campaign before he was released in the summer of 2019.

Per Shipley, Kizer added during the conversation with Breneman that he and Rodgers also discussed other conspiracy theories such as those related to the United States landing on the moon. Rodgers hadn't publicly addressed Kizer's comments about the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks as of early Tuesday afternoon.

Rodgers has a history of generating headlines and controversy with takes on topics such as available COVID-19 vaccines and his use of ayahuasca, a plant-based psychedelic tea. The future Hall of Famer is currently dealing with injuries to the thumb on his throwing hand and his ribs but intends to start when the 4-8 Packers play at the 3-9 Chicago Bears this Sunday.
