The Detroit Lions announced multiple roster moves, ahead of their Week 2 contest against the Seattle Seahawks at Ford Field.

Unfortunately, defensive lineman Josh Paschal was placed on the injured reserve list, 24 hours after head coach Dan Campbell revealed he suffered an injury at practice this week.

Campbell explained, “I don’t think serious, but I think there is a chance. We’ll know more today, but there is a chance he could be out for a little bit. But I don’t feel like this is something to be a season-ending type deal.”

Paschal, who was recovering from groin and leg injuries all throughout his rookie season, was expected to have an expanded role in Aaron Glenn’s defense, as he had a solid training camp and opening performance against the Chiefs.

Khalil Dorsey, who battled an illness this week, was also placed on the injured reserve list.

Last week, Isaiah Buggs was surprisingly inactive, but could have an opportunity to return this week.

Campbell noted that while losing Paschal is unfortunate, the team has added depth along the defensive line.

“Here’s the good news, we’ve got some depth. We’ve got depth,” said Campbell  “We’ve got (Isaiah) Buggs and we’ve got Romeo (Okwara), so we’ve got options, which is good.”

The open roster spot was filled by cornerback Chase Lucas, who started the 2023 season on the practice squad.

Practice squad elevation

With Taylor Decker set to miss the home-opener, the team have called up offensive lineman Kayode Awosika from the practice squad.

Last week, the team did not call up any members of the practice squad prior to defeating the Chiefs on the road.
