The Detroit Lions announced Wednesday that they have signed wide receiver Tom Kennedy to the practice squad and released wide receiver Dylan Drummond.

Additionally, the team opened the 21-day return to practice window for rookie quarterback Hendon Hooker.

Hooker has been at the team's Allen Park facility all season, but has been working with trainers. Wednesday marked the first time the talented quarterback practiced officially with the team.

Kennedy is a familiar face to Detroit fans, as he has spent parts of the last five seasons with the organization. Many remember his performance in the 2022 preseason in which he stood out.

He was on the team's 90-man roster to begin this season, but was waived with an injury designation on Aug. 7.

He's played in 20 NFL games, catching 14 passes for 184 yards in that span. Additionally, he threw a 75-yard touchdown pass to Kalif Raymond in the 2021 season finale against the Green Bay Packers.

Kennedy replaces Dylan Drummond on the practice squad. Drummond is another popular player for his performance in training camp this season after going undrafted out of Eastern Michigan.

The rookie particularly stood out in the preseason, catching nine passes for 87 yards in the Lions' three games. He was waived following the preseason but signed back with the Lions' practice squad.

Drummond was elevated for his NFL debut in Week 5 against Carolina but did not catch a pass. The Eastern Michigan product has not been elevated since, and the Lions have gotten deeper at the position with the acquisition of Donovan Peoples-Jones at the trade deadline.
