Detroit to host 2024 NFL Draft

The Detroit Lions have never brought a Super Bowl championship to Motown but will soon be the "hosts" for the NFL's biggest springtime party.

According to Kevin Patra of the league's website, the NFL awarded the 2024 draft to Detroit.

"The draft has become a prominent offseason event across the country, and we are excited to work with the Lions and their partners to bring the 2024 NFL Draft to the Motor City," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said in a prepared statement. "With the help of Visit Detroit, the Detroit Sports Commission, and the City of Detroit, the Lions' passionate fan base and all visitors will be treated to an incredible three-day experience."

The league's 2024 draft will be held in downtown Detroit in the area around Campus Martius Park and Hart Plaza, which will also hold the NFL Draft Experience site.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports Green Bay and Washington, D.C. were also up for consideration but ultimately lost out to Detroit.

The NFL Draft has become a roadshow experience as of late. Last year's player-selection process was held in downtown Cleveland, and next month's draft will take place in Las Vegas. Kansas City will host the 2023 draft.
