It is hard to watch a Seattle Seahawks game and not see rookie DB Devon Witherspoon take over to some degree.

The rookie defender has quickly rocketed up the Defensive Rookie of the Year charts, and plays like the one Witherspoon had today in another dominant performance against the Cardinals prove why in a clear and concise way.

It may even be time to talk about Witherspoon as the best player on that defense.

The Seahawks have been dying to have a highlight-reel monster that can take control of a weaker defense and help transform it through the might of their identity.

Witherspoon has the juice to do just that. Look at this play from today:

Somehow the receiver was able to hold onto the ball, but plays like this mean something in the long run.

The Seahawks defense hasn't exactly been scary over the past few years. In fact, the defense has been bad by most accounts, and that largely spits in the face of the identity of one of the best defenses in NFL history.

A hit like this sure did feel like a return of the Legion of Boom. Perhaps Witherspoon could be the guy to play that role to ensure something that properly honors that legacy comes back to play for Seattle.

From plays like this to chasing after the ball, Devon Witherspoon does a bit of everything at DB, and more plays like this over the year are going to make it harder and harder for voters to ignore the rookie for a range of key individual awards.
