Dez Bryant responds to Dak Prescott: ‘I’ll always have his back’

Dak Prescott and Dez Bryant only spent two seasons together on the Dallas Cowboys in 2016 and 2017, but it seems the pass-catching duo built a strong bond both on and off the field. During a recent interview on 'In Depth With Graham Bensinger,' Prescott spoke about being a leader as a rookie quarterback and specifically mentioned one practice moment with Bryant.

During the clip, Prescott described a play in which Bryant should have gone down instead of trying to score and his approach to talking with the former star receiver about it. Bensinger then made a comment that essentially asked/suggested that Bryant wasn't the "easiest guy to communicate with," which Prescott immediately pushed back on.

Following his comments on Bryant, in which he largely disagreed, Bryant responded by praising Prescott for his response.

While Bryant was a member of the Cowboys for just the two seasons with Prescott (29 regular season games), the two quickly built a rapport on the field as well. Bryant totaled 119 receptions for 1,634 yards and 14 touchdowns over the two-year span, which included the final full season of his career in 2017. The three-time Pro Bowl wideout did play six games for the Baltimore Ravens in 2020 prior to his season being cut short.
