Did Giants co-owner respond to fan letter about Daniel Jones?

It appears New York Giants co-owner John Mara isn't done responding to letters he receives from paying customers. 

As Jimmy Hascup of NJ Advance Media for NJ.com explained, an individual recently posted on the Big Blue Interactive forum claiming he penned a letter to Mara. In that note, the fan "didn't hold anything back" and "strongly suggested" that general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll should consider "being overly aggressive in ensuring" the club finds a replacement for quarterback Daniel Jones in the first round of this year's draft. 

That person probably didn't love Mara's supposed response, one that also was shared on the Big Blue Interactive website. 

"I have your letter and I understand your concerns about the direction of the team," Mara allegedly wrote back. "We will certainly be studying the quarterbacks in the upcoming draft, although I do not believe we are ready to give up on Daniel Jones. Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll will make the final call on whether we draft a quarterback. We appreciate very much your many years of loyal support. Best wishes to you and your family. Sincerely, John Mara."

There are several reasons to believe the letter that features a Giants/John K. Mara header is legit. Last July, Giants beat writer Paul Schwartz of the New York Post revealed that "Mara’s goal is to respond to every letter" he receives from fans. 

"Mara usually writes his response by hand and then has it typed out and mailed," Schwartz wrote. "Sometimes, he sends the handwritten note." 

Additionally, it was reported earlier this month that "rumors swirling at the Senior Bowl among agents" indicated the Giants were "more likely to add a veteran free agent QB to compete with Daniel Jones than draft one early." 

NFL insider Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report later said that "the Giants are not ready to shut the door on" Jones as the 26-year-old recovers from the torn ACL he suffered in early November. 

"What I’ve been told is that not only does the staff and Brian Daboll believe in Daniel Jones, but (offensive coordinator/assistant head coach Mike Kafka) and the players do as well," Schultz reported. 

The Giants are likely stuck with the four-year contract Jones signed last March through at least the 2024 season, and he has a January 2023 playoff victory on his résumé. Meanwhile, Field Yates of ESPN predicted in a mock draft published on Wednesday that the Giants will use the No. 6 overall pick in this year's draft to land LSU Tigers wide receiver Malik Nabers.
