A New England Patriots player may have taken a swipe at head coach Bill Belichick via social media Tuesday.

The Baltimore Ravens signed rookie quarterback Malik Cunningham off of New England’s practice squad on Tuesday. Shortly after Cunningham shared the news, veteran offensive lineman Trent Brown took to social media to bid his teammate farewell. Brown told Cunningham to “go flourish where your talent is respected lil bradda.”

That sure seemed like a shot at Belichick and/or the Patriots.

Cunningham appeared in one game for New England after he signed with the team as an undrafted free agent. He continued to spend most of his time on the practice squad even as both Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe struggled.

It is certainly possible that Brown and other players in New England wanted to see Cunningham get an opportunity to play. Many fans did as well, with the rationale being that things could not get much worse for the Patriots’ offense.

There was talk at one point earlier in the season that the Patriots could implement some offensive packages for Cunningham. That never happened, despite their offense desperately needing a spark.

It remains to be seen if the Ravens will utilize Cunningham as anything more than an emergency quarterback.
