Do the Ravens have the best defense in the NFL?

The Ravens defense is off to a dominant start this season, which is a big reason why the team is 5-2 and sitting atop the AFC North. Does Baltimore have the best defense in the NFL?

According to Pro Football Focus, the Ravens have allowed the lowest touchdown drive percentage (7.5 percent) and recorded the most sacks (27) and second most pressures (158) in the league.

It's an even more impressive start for Baltimore as the team has seen several injuries to key defenders. Linebackers Odafe Oweh, David Ojabo and Tyus Bowser have all missed time to begin the year.

That means players like DT Justin Madubuike, LB Jadeveon Clowney and LB Kyle Van Noy have all stepped up in the others' absences. Safety Geno Stone also leads the NFL in interceptions (four).

Defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald believes it isn't anything that fans see on the field that makes the group so special.

"It's about the little details you don't necessarily see is what makes the difference," Macdonald told reporters. "We're chasing it still. We're not there by any means but we're chasing it and you can feel it."

Seven weeks into the season, the Ravens defense is allowing the least points per game (13.9) and second least total yards per game (271.7).

If these are the numbers it is putting up now, imagine what it can do when fully healthy. However, Baltimore will have to wait until Week 13 for its bye.

It may not matter anyway in Week 8 as the Ravens defense is set up to have another dominant day against a struggling Cardinals team that has just one win on the season.
