Dolphins' Alec Ingold gives update on QB Tua Tagovailoa

In an interview with ESPN's Adam Schefter, Miami Dolphins fullback Alec Ingold said he has "no doubt" that quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will be "on a mission" next season in his return from multiple concussions.

Ingold also mentioned how Tagovailoa has already started studying judo this offseason in an effort to learn how to fall better. The southpaw signal-caller appeared on FanDuel TV's "Up & Adams" earlier this month ahead of Super Bowl LVII to discuss the new practice.

Tagovailoa was limited to 13 games (two of which were cut short) during the 2022 season due to multiple concussions but still managed to set career highs in passing yards (3,548) and touchdowns (25). He also posted career bests in yards gained per pass attempt (8.9) and quarterback rating (105.5) -- both of which led the NFL -- and was the league's top vote-getter in the Pro Bowl fan voting.

Across the season, the NFL and NFLPA launched two separate joint reviews into how the events surrounding Tagovailoa's concussions were handled. The NFL made modifications to the concussion protocol in October.

The former Alabama quarterback spent over one month in the protocol recently.

In January, Dolphins general manager Chris Grier said that the team will go into the 2023 campaign with Tagovailoa as their starter. Miami has until May to exercise or decline the fifth-year option attached to the 24-year-old's rookie contract.
