The Miami Dolphins placed cornerback Byron Jones on the reserve/physically unable to perform list Tuesday, keeping him sidelined for the first four games as he continues his return from an Achilles injury.

That stretch includes games against four top quarterbacks: New England's Mac Jones, Baltimore's Lamar Jackson, Buffalo's Josh Allen and Cincinnati's Joe Burrow.

Jones, who turns 30 next month, had offseason surgery on his ankle and Achilles.

He registered 58 tackles and 10 passes defensed in 16 starts for the Dolphins in 2021.

A first-round pick by Dallas in 2015, Jones has 444 tackles, four interceptions and five forced fumbles in 109 games (103 starts) with the Cowboys (2015-19) and Dolphins. He made the Pro Bowl in 2018.

Miami also placed linebacker Brennan Scarlett on injured reserve and waived 13 players: wide receivers Lynn Bowden Jr., River Cracraft, Braylon Sanders and Preston Williams; offensive linemen Larnel Coleman, Kellen Diesch, Solomon Kindley and Kion Smith; linebackers Cameron Goode and Porter Guston; defensive tackles Benito Jones and Ben Stille; and safety Verone McKinley III.
