Could New England Patriots offensive lineman Joe Thuney (62) be on the move? Stew Milne-USA TODAY Sports

Dolphins considering trade for Patriots OG Joe Thuney

The New England Patriots really don't have a choice when it comes to Joe Thuney. The team placed the franchise tag on Thuney and has just about $1 million in cap space, making a trade more and more likely.

As it turns out, New England's AFC East rival in Miami is looking to acquire the guard, according to the Miami Herald's Armando Salguero.

The Dolphins have three first-round picks in the 2020 NFL Draft, but would they give up one of them to bring Thuney to Miami? Possibly, but it all depends on what their plans are for selecting a quarterback in the draft.

If New England is able to snag a first-rounder from Miami, it'll probably be the 26th overall pick. Thuney is a two-time Super Bowl champion with the Patriots and has been a valuable asset to the team since 2016.

The 27-year-old would give whichever QB the Dolphins have under center some extra protection in the coming season, so Brian Flores may end up making the deal.
