Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Vic Fangio had high praise for Lamar Jackson, arguing that the Baltimore Ravens quarterback is virtually peerless in the history of the NFL.

Fangio said Jackson does not even compare with other modern-day mobile quarterbacks. The only comparison he could come up with was Michael Vick, at least within the last half-century.

“Yeah, fair share mobile quarterbacks? Yes. Then there’s Lamar Jackson,” Fangio said on Thursday, via Kevin Patra of NFL.com. “He’s unlike anybody else. The only other player that’s been like him in the last 50 years is Michael Vick. He’s a tremendous player. Kudos to Ozzie (Newsome) and Eric (DeCosta) for picking him. Thirty-one other teams that passed him by are kicking themselves. He’s really improved over the years. Dynamic with the ball. Good passer. He makes their offense go.”

MVP buzz is growing for Jackson, who continues to excel in all aspects while trashing his critics. As he prepares to face the Dolphins on Sunday, he comes in with 3,357 passing yards and 786 rushing yards, as well as 24 total touchdowns. A strong performance against the Dolphins could really solidify his MVP aspirations.

Fangio has been coaching in the NFL since 1986. He knows what he’s talking about, so this is high praise.
