Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

When the calendar flipped from November to December, the Miami Dolphins had an 8-3 record and seemed like an easy choice to make the playoffs.

Now, as the calendar flipped to 2023, the Dolphins are 8-8 and are on the verge of missing out on the playoffs altogether.

Miami has lost five straight and needs to win against the New York Jets on Sunday to even have a shot to sneak into the AFC playoff picture, although things aren’t looking very promising for them.

The Dolphins will be without QB Tua Tagovailoa again, who remains sidelined with another concussion, and their latest signing shows how bad things have become.

Yes, the Dolphins are bringing in Mike Glennon to the practice squad with Tua out and Teddy Bridgewater also dealing with an injury.

Bridgewater dislocated his pinky and is likely out for Sunday’s game as well, meaning rookie QB Skylar Thompson will get another opportunity in a must-win game for Miami.

After Bridgewater left the game against the New England Patriots in Week 17, Thompson went 12-of-21 for 104 yards, a score, and an interception.

As for Glennon, he lands with his seventh NFL team and was most recently with the New York Giants in 2021.

Glennon started four games for New York, throwing for 790 yards with four touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

However, this signing is mainly for depth and we will see if Glennon ends up being added to the active roster.

For a team with high hopes and promise such as Miami, things really have changed quickly for them and first-year head coach Mike McDaniel.
