Dolphins' Jacoby Brissett to start vs. Ravens; Tua Tagovailoa to be QB2

It was said on Tuesday that Miami Dolphins first-choice quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was day-to-day ahead of Thursday's prime-time game against the Baltimore Ravens as he worked to recover from the fracture in the middle finger on his throwing hand that kept him out of last Sunday's win over the Houston Texans.

Backup Jacoby Brissett started against Houston and, per Grant Gordon of the NFL's website, will do so again Thursday versus the Ravens. NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe reports Tagovailoa will be Brissett's backup.

Brissett completed 26 of 43 passes for 244 yards with one touchdown, two interceptions, a lost fumble and four sacks in an uninspiring 17-9 victory over the lowly Texans that improved the Dolphins to 2-7 on the season but should have a more difficult assignment on a short week against a 6-2 Ravens side that, thus far, has fallen only to the Las Vegas Raiders and Cincinnati Bengals.

Tagovailoa, meanwhile, missed three games earlier in the season because of fractured ribs he suffered in the Week 2 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Both he and Brissett have a single win on their resumes for the campaign, but it's assumed head coach Brian Flores will want to go back to Tagovailoa when Miami plays at the New York Jets on Nov. 21.
