Dolphins place LT Austin Jackson, TE Adam Shaheen on reserve/COVID-19 list

The Miami Dolphins placed starting left tackle Austin Jackson and tight end Adam Shaheen on the reserve/COVID-19 list, the team announced Monday.

This is Shaheen's second stint on the reserve/COVID-19 list since the start of training camp. He was previously a close contact of co-offensive coordinator and tight ends coach George Godsey, who tested positive earlier this summer.

Shaheen has spoken freely about his decision not to get vaccinated against COVID-19, saying, "[The NFL is] not going to strong-arm me into doing something for more freedom when this is such a changing atmosphere and they're already taking away freedoms of the unvaccinated guys."

The 26-year-old added that the virus does not have him concerned for his health and safety. He is also against wearing masks, with the location on his Twitter profile reading, "Somewhere without a mask."

Shaheen is entering his second season with the Dolphins after catching 12 passes for 150 yards and three touchdowns in 2020.

Meanwhile, Jackson is entering his second season as the Dolphins starting left tackle. If he is unavailable for Week 1, Greg Little could get the start.

The Dolphins are slated to take on rookie quarterback Mac Jones and the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium on Sunday in their season opener.
