Dolphins Pro Bowl LT gives update on possible retirement

Miami Dolphins left tackle Terron Armstead discussed Monday his upcoming decision on whether he'll retire this offseason.

The 32-year-old is coming off his third straight season where he missed at least four games due to injury. Despite playing in only 10 contests during the 2023 regular season (plus the Dolphins' one playoff tilt), Armstead earned his second consecutive Pro Bowl nod and fifth overall, all of which have come in the last six years.

Even when healthy, the former third-round pick was seeing slightly less time on the field than in seasons past, playing in 81% of the available offensive snaps across his 10 games. That percentage was Armstead's lowest since the 2016 campaign with the New Orleans Saints (79%).

He did play a full complement of snaps for the fifth time in his 11 games during the season in Miami's AFC wild-card game loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday, however.

Armstead signed with the Dolphins in March 2022 after spending nine seasons with the Saints, including his two healthiest years in 2019 and 2020 with 15 and 14 games played, respectively. He was limited to eight contests in 2021 and suited up in 13 in 2022.

Armstead began the 2023 campaign with multiple injuries, missing Weeks 1 and 2 and six of the first eight games. He closed the year by playing in nine of the final 10 contests, including Saturday's loss.
