Dolphins Pro Bowler expected to return in 2024 after considering retirement

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reported Wednesday morning that the "full expectation" is that Dolphins left tackle Terron Armstead will continue his career in 2024.

As Jackson noted, the 32-year-old discussed his future last month, days after Miami was eliminated in the wild-card round by the Kansas City Chiefs.

Armstead said in January that he loved the game and was still "chasing a ring."

The former third-round pick just finished his third straight season where he missed at least four contests due to injury. Even though he only played 10 games in 2023 (plus the team's one playoff tilt), Armstead earned his second consecutive Pro Bowl honor and fifth overall, all of which have come in the last six years.

The Belleville, Illinois native played in 81 percent of the available offensive snaps across his 10 regular season games, which was his lowest mark since the 2016 campaign with the New Orleans Saints (79%). Armstead played all 61 of the team's offensive snaps during the playoff defeat against Kansas City.

He signed with the Dolphins in March 2022 after spending nine seasons with the Saints, including his two healthiest years in 2019 and 2020 with 15 and 14 games played, respectively. Armstead was limited to eight contests in 2021 and suited up in 13 in 2022.

He started the 2023 season with multiple injuries, missing Weeks 1 and 2 and six of the first eight games. Armstead closed the campaign by playing in nine of the final 10 contests, including the postseason loss.
