Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa (finger) on track to start vs. Jets

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa hasn't started the past two games because of the fracture in the middle finger on his throwing hand but was called into action for last Thursday's win over the Baltimore Ravens after backup Jacoby Brissett hurt his knee in that contest.

Per Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN, Miami head coach Brian Flores told reporters Monday that Tagovailoa is on track to start this coming Sunday's matchup at the 2-7 New York Jets.

"He's definitely limited, there's definitely some discomfort," Flores said of Tagovailoa, who aggravated the issue against the Ravens but managed to finish the game in place of Brissett. "He hit the finger again so we've just got to monitor that as the week goes."

Tagovailoa unquestionably had some rough moments versus the Ravens but completed eight of 13 passes for 158 yards. The second-year pro also added a rushing touchdown late in the fourth quarter of Miami's second straight victory that improved the club to 3-7.

Brissett's status for the Jets game is unclear at the moment, as Flores said the veteran is "day-to-day" but isn't dealing with anything "serious" regarding his knee.
