Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa suffers rib injury vs. Bills, to undergo MRI

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa exited Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills with a rib injury and will undergo an MRI on Monday, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

X-rays returned negative, Pelissero adds.

The 23-year-old suffered the injury on Miami's second drive of Sunday's game. He attempted to convert a 4th-and-2, but was hit by A.J. Epenesa while throwing.

Tagovailoa limped off the field with assistance from Miami's training staff before being carted to the locker room.

Tagovailoa completed just 1-of-4 passes for 13 yards before exiting. Jacoby Brissett entered the game to fill in for the second-year quarterback.

Tagovailoa was hoping to follow up his strong start to the season with another impressive performance against Buffalo. He threw for 202 yards and a touchdown against an interception in a 17-16 Week 1 win over the New England Patriots. He also ran for a touchdown.

The Alabama product is in his first season as Miami's full-time starter. If he misses any time, the Dolphins will be in trouble.
