Don't count on this mythical Tom Brady-led powerhouse going undefeated

American folklore is filled with legends and myths. George Washington never told a lie. Paul Bunyan carried a huge axe. Tom Brady, who retired Wednesday, would have gone 20-0 with his best offensive teammates.

Wait, what?

The 33rd Team wondered if an offense built around Brady's best talent in New England and Tampa Bay would go 20-0, seemingly regardless of the defensive talent on the mythical team.

The offensive talent on this Dream Team is undeniable. A unit with WR Randy Moss, TE Rob Gronkowski, WR Mike Evans and slot receivers Wes Welker and Julian Edelman would be a bear to defend.

Running back Corey Dillon ran for 1,635 yards during his first year in New England in 2004, and his backfield running mate, Kevin Faulk, spent 13 seasons with the Patriots as a do-it-all back. They'd be formidable weapons on this mythical team, too.

Despite the offensive firepower, it's a bit much to think Brady could go 20-0 with a team when he couldn't finish off the 9-7 Giants in Super Bowl XLII to go 19-0.

That 2007 New England team also had a great offense, but Michael Strahan, Justin Tuck and the rest of New York's defensive line made life uncomfortable for Brady in the Giants' 17-14 win.

Of course, we also need to account for an ill-advised pass attempt to Brady that the mythical team would likely call or that HC Bill Belichick might have Matt Patricia and Joe Judge orchestrate the offense. At least Jakobi Meyers wouldn't be around to attempt a lateral on the last play of the game.

Ah, we kid.

Brady was great but never perfect. This is a fun exercise, but would this "dream team" go undefeated?

Dream on.
