Super Bowl-winning head coach Doug Pederson has found a new home after last manning the sidelines for the Philadelphia Eagles back in 2020.

ESPN's Adam Schefter and others reported that the Jacksonville Jaguars have hired Pederson to be their next head coach.

This comes following a drama-filled head-coaching search for the Jaguars after they were forced to fire Urban Meyer 13 games into his tenure in Duval.

Reports had indicated that the Jaguars brass was at odds when it comes to their search for a new head man. Meanwhile, the presence of general manager Trent Baalke seemed to be a detriment when it came to finding a new head coach. Once Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich pulled his name out of the running earlier on Thursday, that was magnified further.

Doug Pederson heads to the Jacksonville Jaguars

In the end, Jacksonville adds one of the most accomplished coaching candidates of the cycle. A former NFL quarterback, the 54-year-old Pederson served as the Philadelphia Eagles head coach from 2016-20. He posted a 42-37-1 record during that span, including a Super Bowl win over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots following the 2017 season.

Pederson was fired by the Eagles after the 2020 campaign. It’s a season that saw Philadelphia boast a 4-11-1 record with Carson Wentz struggling under center. The two are now reunited in the AFC South.

An NFL coach since his days as the Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive quality control coach back in 2009, Pederson now takes over a sinking ship in Duval. The Jags have lost 29 of their past 32 games.

The good news for Pederson? He gets to work with 2021 No. 1 pick Trevor Lawrence, who struggled as a rookie. This should be a good pairing for the downtrodden Jaguars.
