Drew Brees says he 'only really felt good in one game' last season

Drew Brees officially called it a career after a final season that saw the New Orleans Saints quarterback miss four games after breaking several ribs in a November game against the San Francisco 49ers. But Brees revealed that his struggles began long before then, as he said that he only felt 100% in one game all season: the Saints' Week 4 matchup against the Detroit Lions.

"I only really felt good in one game, from the perspective of, I had all the tools in my toolbox," he said ahead of the Pro-Am golf charity tournament, per the team's official website. "I had a lot of limitations throughout the season as to what I could and couldn't do, and I recognized that. And that's really hard for a competitor."

Despite his lingering limitations, Brees remained one of the league's better quarterbacks when he was on the field, completing 70% of his passes while leading New Orleans to the playoffs for the fourth straight season.

Sadly, Father Time remains undefeated (though Tom Brady is giving him a heck of a fight), and the toll of nearly 300 NFL starts managed to catch up with Brees, which is why he chose to retire after another tough postseason exit.
