There may not have been a more hated man in the state of Philadelphia than Jonathan Gannon after he left his defensive coordinator job with the Eagles to become the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals.

This switch for Gannon came two days following the Eagles loss in Super Bowl LVII in a game where their defense allowed 38 points.

Unsurprisingly, Gannon bore the brunt of the blame for the Super Bowl defeat. Consequently, when news broke of his move to the Cardinals, a torrent of criticism and discontent engulfed the Eagles’ fanbase.

However, now that Sean Desai is their defensive coordinator, the Eagles defense has not been the same this season.

The Eagles are in the bottom 10 in the NFL for points allowed per game; last year, they were in the top 10.

This defensive struggle was glaringly evident in their recent Sunday night clash against the Cowboys, resulting in a 33-13 loss. It marked the third consecutive week where the Eagles’ defense permitted at least 30 points.

All of a sudden, fans are missing Jonathan Gannon and regretting what they said nine months ago.

In just a couple of weeks, on New Year’s Eve, Jonathan Gannon and the Arizona Cardinals will take on the Eagles in Philadelphia.
