The Philadelphia Eagles might be without head coach Nick Sirianni as they continue their playoff push against the New York Giants on Sunday.

One day after Philadelphia defeated a COVID-ravaged Washington Football Team, the virus is having an impact on the NFC East team.

Sirianni announced Wednesday that he has tested positive for COVID-19 and is showing some symptoms.

“Wasn’t feeling great this morning when I woke up and just got tested and obviously we are where we are right now,” Nick Sirianni told reporters in a virtual press conference. “Feeling OK, feeling a little better now.”

This is yet another example of a head coach around the NFL being sidelined after catching the virus. That list already includes Sean Payton of the New Orleans Saints, among others.

It remains to be seen if Sirianni will be on the sideline for Sunday’s home date with New York. The former Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator has his Eagles a 7-7 on the season and in the midst of a stretch that has seen them win four of five since an ugly 3-6 start to his first season in Philadelphia.

As of right now, Philadelphia is tied for the seventh and final spot in the NFL Playoffs with the Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints. It holds the tiebreaker over New Orleans due to a win earlier this season and loses said tiebreaker with the Vikings after posting a worst record in common games.

If Nick Sirianni can’t coach come Sunday, it stands to reason that either offensive coordinator Shane Steichen or defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon would lead the team on an interim basis.
