It may be time to admit that Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Jordan Davis is a bust. Or, at the very least, a major disappointment thus far.

Davis has been an absolute non-factor during the second half of the season, and Fox Sports analyst Brian Baldinger knows the reason why: he is out of shape.

During an appearance on the PHLY Eagles Podcast this week, Baldinger ripped Davis for his conditioning.

“It is clear that Jordan Davis is out of shape,” Baldinger said. “I don’t know what they fine him every week, but I’ve got to believe he’s getting money taken from him. He’s overweight, and it shows. He’s not pursuing the football, he’s nothing in the pass rush. … If he is going to play with that effort and be overweight like that, then you say, well okay, they’re a man short in their rotation.”

Davis logged 2.5 sacks over the first seven weeks of the season. Since then, he has not tallied a single sack. Not only that, but he has amassed a grand total of five tackles over the last three games.

“He’s not effective right now,” Baldinger continued. “They need another guy inside. I’m not sure why he keeps dressing. … When plays are going on, he’s basically walking on the field. It’s bad effort.”

The 23-year-old has registered 42 tackles and a forced fumble on the season overall.

Davis, who played his collegiate football at the University of Georgia, was selected by the Eagles in the 13th overall pick of the 2022 NFL Draft. He appeared in 13 games during his rookie campaign, finishing with 18 tackles and just one tackle for loss.

There is still plenty of time for Jordan Davis to get himself right, but if he can’t get his weight under control, his NFL future seems bleak.

Philadelphia is 11-5 and will battle the New York Giants in its season finale this Sunday. The Eagles need a win over the Giants and a Dallas Cowboys loss to the Washington Commanders in order to win the NFC East division title.
