Eagles 'making calls about moving up' in first round of 2022 NFL Draft?

Two days before the 2022 NFL Draft gets underway on Thursday evening, the Philadelphia Eagles possess picks No. 15 and No. 18 after completing a trade with the New Orleans Saints that may or may not have been about Philadelphia preparing to pursue a quarterback in next year's player-selection process.

General manager Howie Roseman insisted last week the Eagles are "excited about Jalen Hurts" and aren't looking to replace him with any signal-caller at this time. That doesn't, however, mean Philadelphia won't be a mover and/or shaker before or on Thursday.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Eagles "have been among the most notable teams making calls about moving up" in the first round of this year's draft.

"Moving up is a fascinating one because you do wonder if the Eagles move up from 15 -- of course they do have plenty of ammunition, two first-round picks -- who would they be targeting? Potentially, would a corner be someone they'd be targeting? Would it be an edge-rusher? What if (Oregon edge-rusher Kayvon) Thibodeaux slid? Lot of options here for the Philadelphia Eagles," Rapoport explained.

The NFL website story adds that the Eagles could move up for a top-tier edge-rusher or wide receiver. Also on Tuesday, Brandon Lee Gowton of Bleeding Green Nation noted that multiple insiders previously said Roseman could make a move for either a receiver or an edge-rusher depending on who is available on Thursday night.

Like Rapoport, Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk said that Roseman could be eyeing a cornerback.

In short, the Eagles have plenty of roster holes and options during the final full week of April.
