The Philadelphia Eagles will kick off Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season in Brazil but who they will play at Neo Quimica Arena in São Paulo remains a mystery.

An earlier report from NBC Sports' Peter King suggested that the Eagles would face the Cleveland Browns but that may not be the case.

According to the Green Bay Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy, his team is still in the running to play in the first-ever NFL game in Brazil.

“We’re either the first- or second-most popular team in Brazil. Apparently, they like green and gold,” Murphy said on Tuesday while speaking during the annual Tailgate Tour. “I think New England might be ahead of us because of Tom Brady and Gisele but I think that’s a few years. I think we’re very popular there. As we talked about, we’re kind of the people’s team. People really like the idea of a community-owned team, with our history and tradition.”

The game will be held on September 6 and is considered a home game for Philadelphia.

If the Packers end up being the Eagles' opponent for the international match then that means they would be giving up one of their home games against Green Bay that is already scheduled at Lincoln Financial Field next fall.

Murphy is hoping they are the team that's chosen.

“This is very important for the league,” Murphy said. “The Packers are very popular in Brazil. If we’re chosen, we’ll gladly go.”
