Eagles' new playmaker believes coach 'knows how to utilize' him

The Philadelphia Eagles took two players from their NFC East rival New York Giants this offseason, and while they are highlighted by two-time Pro Bowl running back Saquon Barkley, the other believes he'll be used as a key piece in Philadelphia's offense as well.

That other player is wide receiver Parris Campbell, a second-round pick by the Colts in 2019.

Why is he so optimistic coming off a season when he had just 20 catches for 104 yards and zero touchdowns?

Campbell is reuniting with one of his first NFL coaches. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni was Campbell's offensive coordinator with the Colts for two seasons before joining Philadelphia in 2021.

"He knows how to utilize me as a player," Campbell said via Olivia Reiner of the Philadelphia Inquirer. "He knows what my skills are. ... That's one thing about this league, you never want to burn bridges. You always want to make great relationships. ... It will be fun to reconnect, but it's also welcoming and warming to feel wanted in that building."

Campbell only has one season guaranteed with the Eagles to prove he belongs after signing a one-year deal in free agency.

It won't be easy, either, as Philadelphia also added DeVante Parker to a wide receiver room that is already led by A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith. Plus, the team could make further additions to the room in the 2024 NFL Draft, which is rich with wide receiver talent.

Campbell already has some connections on the Eagles, but he will need to do more than just rely on his past relationships to establish his role in their offense.

However, Campbell thinks he just needs a fair chance, and he'll let his play do the rest of the talking.

"Being able to go in and really carve out a role for myself, getting a fair shake and just kind of going from there, I'll take my chances any day of the week," Campbell added. "I'm confident in the player that I am."
