Eagles OL looks as strong as ever in lifting video

Do you have 700 pounds lying around the house? Would you like someone to pick it up? If so, Philadelphia’s Lane Johnson can probably help you out.

With Eagles training camp less than two weeks away, the team’s All-Pro left tackle looks ready to go in a recent social media post. In it, Johnson picks up 700 pounds for a deadlift as easily as most people pick up their socks.

Johnson has always been considered a freakish athlete. 10 years ago at the NFL Scouting Combine, the quarterback-turned-tight end-turned offensive tackle put up a 34-inch vertical jump, 28 reps of 225 pounds in the bench press and ran a 4.72 in the 40.

Back then Johnson barely weighed 300 pounds. These days he’s around 325. Adding that much size can’t be easy, even for the owner of the “Bro Barn.”

Way in the back of his two-acre property in suburban New Jersey sits a 1,2000 square foot building that used to be used to keep horses. Today the barn is filled with a mixture of high-end and low tech workout equipment that Johnson estimates cost him somewhere between $60K to $70K

The “Bro Barn” is open to any NFL player and teammates like Jalen Hurts, Jason Kelce and Jordan Mailata have all joined Johnson for workouts. Whatever they do in those old horse stalls is obviously working, especially for Johnson.

According to Pro Football Focus, Johnson hasn’t given up a quarterback hit since Week 7 of 2021 or a sack since Week 11 of 2020. Last season he was named First-Team All-Pro for the second time in his career and made his fourth Pro Bowl.

Johnson and the Eagles will do more heavy lifting when the team reports to training camp on July 25. They’ll start the preseason on Aug. 12 with a road game in Baltimore and the regular season with a game in New England on Sept. 10.
