Eagles safety Rodney McLeod: 'I have all intentions to be there Week 1'

Philadelphia Eagles safety Rodney McLeod began the 2020 NFL year by signing a two-year contract to remain with the club. His year ended on a negative note, however, as he went down to a torn ACL on Dec. 13. That injury put his status for Week 1 of the upcoming season into question due to the lengthy recovery timeline associated with such setbacks. 

According to Zach Berman of The Athletic, though, McLeod told reporters Wednesday he thinks he'll be good to go when the Eagles face the Atlanta Falcons on Sept. 12. 

"That is my goal. I want to be available for my team," McLeod said. "Not only for a game, but for all 17. That's my motivation. I have all intentions to be there Week 1."

Across 13 contests before the injury last fall, McLeod accumulated 66 total tackles, an interception, two fumble recoveries, seven pass breakups and a defensive touchdown. According to Glenn Erby of Eagles Wire, the final three years of the veteran's contract are void years meant to offer the club salary-cap relief.
