The Philadelphia Eagles have been busy this offseason, but there are still some roster issues that the team needs to address.

Like, for example, how the Eagles are going to replace retired defensive lineman Fletcher Cox.

Cox announced his retirement earlier this month, and with Philadelphia also shopping edge rusher Haason Reddick in trade talks, Philly’s defensive front could suddenly become an area of need in the coming weeks.

That’s why ESPN’s Bill Barnwell thinks the Eagles should consider signing free-agent defensive lineman Calais Campbell.

Campbell is coming off of a 2023 campaign with the Atlanta Falcons in which he played 16 games and registered 56 tackles, 6.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

The 37-year-old clearly has something left in the tank and is probably looking for the right opportunity before he signs anywhere.

Campbell has yet to win a Super Bowl in his 16-year NFL career, so, chances are, he will want to join a championship contender and is biding his time until one makes a reasonable offer.

The University of Miami product was originally selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft.

Campbell spent time with the Cardinals, Jacksonville Jaguars and Baltimore Ravens before linking up with the Falcons last year.

His best season came with the Jaguars in 2017, when he racked up 67 tackles, 14.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and a defensive touchdown en route to a Pro Bowl appearance and a First-Team All-Pro selection. He also finished second in Defensive Player of the Year voting.

Overall, Campbell has made six trips to the Pro Bowl and has notched a pair of Second-Team All-Pro nods, as well. His production has certainly tailed off in recent years, but there seems to be very little doubt that he can’t at least be a solid contributor along a contender’s front seven.

Perhaps the Eagles will be the club that brings him aboard.
