Eight-time Pro Bowler says DeAndre Hopkins wants to play for this AFC team

The last time Von Miller said a high-profile wide receiver told him he wanted to play in Buffalo, it didn’t happen. So, is he to be trusted again?

According to The Buffalo News , Miller, who’s recovering from a torn ACL, was told directly by disgruntled Arizona Cardinals receiver DeAndre Hopkins that he wants to join the seven-time All-Pro with the Bills.

“I talk to [Hopkins] all the time and it’s kind of like the same thing with OBJ,” Miller said. “You just never know until you know. [Hopkins] said he wanted to be a Buffalo Bill and you never know until you get that DeAndre Hopkins signature on a contract. I’m not sure what the circumstances are or what’s going on with that, but I would love to see DeAndre Hopkins be here, and I would love to have his skill set on our offense with Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs and Dawson Knox and Gabe Davis.”

During a recent appearance on the “All Things Covered” podcast, Hopkins hinted that the Bills were a team that he would want to play for if the Cardinals traded him.

However, Tim Graham of The Athletic reported that Buffalo would not be trading for Hopkins barring a “significant development.” The Bills also have approximately $6 million in cap space, and they’d need to clear some substantial money to accommodate Hopkins’ $29.9 million cap hit, in addition to sending the Cardinals draft capital in return for the 30-year-old WR.

Potentially adding Hopkins, who had six 1,000-yard seasons from 2014 to 2020, to an offense that ranked second overall and eighth in passing, would give the Bills an embarrassment of riches at skill positions.
